Dateline America: A Giant Leap for Typos

Alas, I wasn't able to buy my own copy of this particular paper.

I do feel their pain, though.  If they're using the Adobe (TM)(R)(C) program that I used, once upon a time, well... they don't automatically spell-check the Headline section of the layout.  And now that illiteracy is triumphing these days, at least in America, why not?  Still, you'd prefer to get your misspellings in the article part of the paper... you know, where the

2026 - The Year in Typos

2026 is off to a terrific start for typos, that's for sure!  But they've got different priorities at the federal level these days.  Take the "One, Big, Beautiful Bill," for example.  Now some might say that that comma after the "one" shouldn't be there.

Quickly moving on, here's another comma that shouldn't be in this web ad for... whatever.

And here's just a blatant Mississippi misspelling.  See if you can spot it.

As they say in the advertising business, sex sells... along with typos.  I just wonder if that's anything like a Loyalty PROGRAM????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Erroneous Headline

I went ahead and circled the discrepancies... which one is right? I forget myself.

Temu ---> "Funny" BBQ Hoodie

God bless Temu(c)! They bring the sex appeal that Amazon (TM)(C)(R) and Ebay (R)(TM)(C) are sorely lacking. And clearly this blog needs it too. I personally wouldn't want to wear a garment like that to a barbecue, but to each their own. But I would like to correct their grammar: you need to replace "going" with either "going to," or "gonna" to be more hip, as in I'm Gonna Git You Sucka. IMHO; just sayin'

Going through my email

Still drowning in email.  What can I say?  The non-profits love me.  Most of them... the occasional one sends me an email saying "You know, you haven't opened our last seven emails."  Amnesty International and Oceana seem to have given up on me permanently, but I'm working my way back to them, babe.  Anyway, I probably shouldn't be helping out the scam artists... the many, many scam artists.  I suppose we should pick another word soon: the art of Rembrandt, the art of the pickpocket.  But they're close!  They're basically grammatically correct.  Somehow, they always manage to find the most irritating grammatical error.  Take, for example.....

Typo Is The New Fact Check / Multiple Sources

I gotta do everything around here.  Got a bone to pick, Mediaite!  Here's the link.  Okay, the typo is before the "Continue Reading" button, so that's another lesson for you.  But you've probably gotten a couple hundred messages to your Smartphones (TM) (R) (C) already.  And that's from outraged people on the Right!  Maybe I shouldn't bother then... I'll just say this.  ALWAYS make sure you get your Dana's right, whether it's Dana Andrews, Dana Delany, Dana Carvey, Dan Abrams, Dana Barrett, Dana Bash or Dana Perino.  In this case, it was a mix-up of the last two.... I know, right?  HUUUUUUGE difference.

Gaylord or Gayland?

I was doing a little research on the so-called Eleventh Commandment.  I thought it said "Thou Shalt Not Attack Thy Fellow Republican."  But according to both Wikipedia AND Conservapedia... you can find that one yourself... the actual text of the commandment is "Thou shalt not speak ill of any fellow Republican."  In the era of Trump, however, they might have to expand that to include depositions in court.  After all, most Conservatives seem to answer to a higher power than the American court system when it comes to crunch time.
Anyway, this "Eleventh Commandment" is credited to Ronald Reagan, but apparently was created by a feller named Gaylord Parkinson.  Alas, it didn't raise his standing in the Internet Age.  A little hard to find articles about him, especially with a name like Gaylord.  But according to Conservapedia, the feller's name is Gay LAND Parkinson.  So which is it?  Is it Gaylord or is it Gayland?  I think the answer is sooo over here...

What is....

Let's face it... the world moves very very fast, and the people who get paid minimum wage to type out these Yahoo! News blurps have only so many hours in a day.  I may have blogged this brain fart before, but I remember some snot-nosed kid came into the student newspaper and started lecturing the editor about typos in an issue or two of the paper... I probably should've spoken up at the time, but I'm just too polite of a guy, and I always believe in letting people speak their piece, no matter how verbose and pushy they get.  Apparently the kid wanted to come and work for the paper.  And of course, I'm sure that as soon as he got there, all typos would suddenly vanish on his watch.  In between all his other courses, his tumultuous private life, and everything that goes on at a busy student newspaper, all typos would be gone forever and ever amen.  Alas, we'll just never know how it all turned out... but I do know how this turned out.  NUEROPATHY?  Really?  Seriously?  BOTH SPELLINGS ARE THERE!!!  I mean, the correct one's in the small print under the headline, of course.

Typowh'z eweryvhere

The whole point of this blog, really, even though I lately don't seem to have the will to devote my main life energies to it, was to encourage me to read more books.  Well, one book a year is pretty good for me lately.  I'm still a slave to my eye-straining computer, kinda hate to say.  For example, you have to examine this jpeg file to see if you can find the typo within it... that's right, I'm not taking the extra time to type it all out for you.  See if you can find it... give up?  No, it's not the three salacious words at the bottom of the page.  It's the "kinife-edge" nearer the top.  Now, I won't name names, but I will ask... IS THAT ANYTHING LIKE KNIFE-EDGE, BY ANY CHANCE???????????????????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1111!!!!!!!!!!!!!!???///????
